What Photographic Camera Features Are Excellent For Pictures For Beachville Maryland

Composition - The Soul of the Photo

Composition is the spirit of the photo. Composition leads to the work of art that starts from inspiration. Inspiration starts when you disconnect together with the domestic battles of everyday life and free the spirit to experience the universe around you. Experiencing nature and actually being in the moment links you with all around you.

It might sound like meditation, but the mind is cleared by awareness of your surroundings without hindrance of outside ideas and sharpening your perceptions. Where you did not see them pictures appear. The elements begin to align and art emerges.

Joseph Cornell in his novel 'Listening to Nature How to Deepen Your Awareness of Nature' had this exercise. Walk into a place which you'd like to photograph. Instead of setting up the camera and shooting. Sit down. Wait. Relax. Be still and feel the moment. Quite softly become conscious of nature. The Native Americans called this 'quiet hunting'. You personally will be spoken to by nature, but you must be quiet. Nature talks gently. If you're patient, nature will show herself to you. And unbelievable pictures will appear.

There are numerous times that I have entered the woods with camera in hand and not found anything that I needed to photograph. It might be that I wasn't ready or nature did not need to show herself. That day perhaps she didn't feel photogenic. Scenes appear as if by magic, other days. If you can't find anything to shoot on any given day so don't be disappointed. Utilize that time to scout the area for future opportunities and revel in the fact that you've got an opportunity to be outside.

Take this as the opportunity to plan for future shots. At these times think, what if the light was coming from a different way. A better image may be produced by coming back in the early morning or late day. The landscape changes. Perhaps shooting with the foliage in brilliant colours, in the autumn, or winter with a fresh layer of snow would create the photo that you desire.

When seeking that image, don't hurry yourself. Time with nature is a joy all by its self. In the event you don't find anything to shoot, the absolute enjoyment of being one with the outdoors is worth the experience.

On what's necessary to shoot through the nighttime, to help anyone that's interested I Have listed a few hints below. I've been getting a little into nighttime landscape photography of late. Yesterday evening I had lots of enjoyment with some fellow pictures playing with different coloured lights to create effects that we can not record with ordinary individual eyesight. Long exposures open-up a universe of creativity and possibilities. The image below was taken over the course of 2 minutes whilst his feet slowly moved 360 degrees around a pivot point whilst spinning a coloured LED light. Whilst it seems like a straightforward process in theory it is actually rather catchy to form a perfect sphere as the space in the swings has to be kept continuous. Getting it right makes for an intriguing effect and something to add further visual interest to a night time landscape photograph.

Night Landscape Photography Hints:

Please notice you'll need a camera equipped with the flash mode

Look through the optical view finder - Live View is definitely going to be worthless to you when composing an image. Better still try and arrive whilst it's still light to let you compose the scene and focus

In case you have to focus in the dark, make use of a torch to illuminate the focal point and when you can not manually focus by illuminating the desired focus point, set the lens to infinity and back it off by just a millimetre or two

Establish your White Balance to Auto

With your camera set to Aperture Priority (AV) mode, set the aperture to f/8 and raise your camera's ISO to the maximum (i.e. 1600). Depress the shutter button and observe what the determined shutter speed is

Now change from the AV mode to the Flash mode - this is the sole mode that allows you to capture exposures greater than 30 seconds

Eventually, fall the ISO to 100 and adjust the shutter speed to compensate. As an example, decreasing the ISO from 1600 down to 100 represents 4 stops (800, 400, 200, 100) where every time you halve the value it equals to one stop. This means that if the shutter speed was 30 seconds formerly then it would need to be fixed to rise by 4 stops which would be 480 secs (8 minutes) (60, 120, 240, 480). It is important to alter the shutter speed and not the aperture as to maintain depth of field that you want

Bonus Hint: Avoid turning on the camera's noise reduction as it will bring about taking more for the image to write to the memory card (the same amount of time as required for the exposure) before becoming available for viewing on the LCD screen. Instead reduce any noise which could have been inserted during the Post Production process into the image
