What Photographic Camera Capabilities Are Perfect For Photography For Grapevine Arkansas

Composition - The Core of the Photo

Composition is the heart of the photo. Composition contributes to the work of art that starts from inspiration. Inspiration starts when you disconnect together with the internal battles of everyday life and free the spirit to have the universe around you. Truly being in the moment and experiencing nature links you with all around you.

It might sound like meditation, but the mind is cleared by knowledge of your surroundings without interference of external thoughts and sharpening your perceptions. Images appear where you did not see them. The components begin to art and align appears.

Joseph Cornell in his novel 'Listening to Nature How to Deepen Your Awareness of Nature' had this exercise. Walk into an area which you'd like to photograph. Rather than setting the camera up and shooting. Sit down. Wait. Relax. Be still and feel the moment. Very softly become aware of nature. The Native Americans called this 'quiet hunting'. You will be spoken to by nature, but you have to be quiet. Nature speaks gently. Nature will show herself to you, in the event that you are patient. And incredible images will appear.

There are numerous times that I've entered the woods with camera in hand and not found anything that I needed to photograph. It may be that I wasn't prepared or nature did not wish to show herself. That day maybe she did not feel photogenic. Scenes appear as if by magic, other days. So don't be disappointed if you can not find anything to shoot on any given day. Use that time to scout the area for future opportunities and revel in the fact that you have a chance to be outdoors.

Take this as an opportunity to plan for future shots. At these times think, what if the light was coming from an alternate direction. A better image may be produced by coming back in the early morning or late day. Seasons change the landscape. Maybe shooting together with the leaf in brilliant colours, in the autumn, or winter with a fresh layer of snow would create the photo that you desire.

When seeking that image, don't rush yourself. Time with nature is a joy all by its own self. The sheer happiness of being one with the outside is worth the encounter, in the event you don't find anything to shoot.

On what's required to shoot through the night, to help anyone that's curious I Have recorded several suggestions below. I have been getting a little into nighttime landscape photography of late. Last night I had a lot of enjoyment with some fellow photos playing with different coloured lights to produce effects that we can't record with average human eyesight. Long exposures open-up a universe of creativity and possibilities. The image below was taken over the course of 2 minutes whilst his feet slowly moved 360 degrees around a pivot point whilst spinning a coloured LED light. Whilst it seems like an easy process in theory as the space in the swings has to be kept constant, it's actually fairly catchy to form a perfect sphere. Getting it right makes for an intriguing effect and something to add further visual interest to a night time landscape photograph.

Night Landscape Photography Hints:

Please notice you will require a camera equipped with the flash mode

Look through the optical view finder - Live View is going to be worthless to you when composing an image. Better still try and arrive whilst it is still light to enable you to compose the scene and focus

In case you need to focus in the dark, make use of a torch to illuminate the focal point by illuminating the desired focus point and when you can't manually focus, set the lens to infinity and back it off by just a millimetre or two

Set to Auto

With your camera set to Aperture Priority (AV) mode, set the aperture to f/8 and raise your camera's ISO to the maximum (i.e. 1600). Depress the shutter button and pay attention to what the calculated shutter speed is

Now switch from the AV mode to the Flash mode - this is the only mode that allows you to capture exposures greater than 30 seconds

Finally, fall the ISO to 100 and adjust the shutter speed to compensate. For example, decreasing the ISO from 1600 down to 100 symbolizes 4 stops (800, 400, 200, 100) where every single time you halve the value it equals to one stop. This implies that in the event the shutter speed was 30 seconds formerly then it'd need to be fixed to increase by 4 stops which would be 480 secs (8 minutes) (60, 120, 240, 480). It's important to modify the shutter speed and not the aperture as to preserve depth of field that you just want

Bonus Tip: Avoid turning on the camera's noise reduction as it will result in taking more for the image to write to the memory card (the same amount of time as required for the exposure) before becoming available for viewing on the LCD screen. Instead reduce any sound that could have been added during the Post Production process into the image
