Digital Photography Strategies For Jonestown Pennsylvania

To Get Better Landscape Photography, Your Camera Gear Should Include Neutral Density Filters!

The neutral density filter concerns. To get better landscape photography, this is just another piece of camera gear that should be at all times in your bag! It's another filter effect that can not be duplicated after the fact. It must be in the camera.

I am certain you've seen landscape photography of a waterfall.

You can shoot it so that every drop of water is in sharp relief... or you'll be able to shoot it so that it looks like a huge string of cotton candy! And everything in between!

Incidentally, did you know that Niagara Falls truly ceased flowing in 1848 for about 20 hours because there was ice that was blocking the Niagara River? Imagine a before and after shot of THAT!

Anyway, back to our point...

We know that to get the sharp image, we to get the cotton candy blur we want a slow one and desire a fast shutter speed.

Another great reason to put your camera on manual! You'll never get award winning shots on automatic! They're going to look like everyone else's.

Imagine if we desire a really slow shutter speed, but it is a brilliant day? As you know, merely a specific amount of light can be let in for an excellent exposure - it's going to ruin the picture, should you let in too much.

If you're looking for your Canon or Nikon Camera in Jonestown, Pennsylvania you should not forget to take a look at eBay for nice choices and hard to beat pricing

So we first start closing down the aperture. What if that isn't enough? What will happen if we are at the lowest aperture setting - and we still have an excessive amount of light.

Our next option would be to go with the slowest film or ISO setting we can. That's nice, it will give us nicely saturated, sound free shots... but there are limits.

Since our difficulty is that too much light is entering the lens, the simple fix would be to block a few of that light.

Enter the 'Neutral Density Filter'.

The neutral density filter is a filter that's designed to block a certain amount of light. That is all! It does not change the light in any manner - it's inert. The light going into the lens has all the same properties; there's only less of it.

Voilla! You are now able to shoot cotton candy waterfall, that sleek - on a bright sunny day!

Neutral density filters come in various strengths. You can block one stop of light, three, five, and so on. Plus various densities can be 'stacked' for even more light blockage. You can put a three stop neutral density filter along with a five stop collectively for eight full stops! (That's a LOT of light!)

Neutral density filters have lots of uses, not just for waterfalls. In tomorrows photo trick post, I'll go into even more cool things that you can do to improve your landscape photography with these crucial camera equipment accessories.
